STYLING A $4.00 DRESS

Yes, you read it right. My dress cost $4.00. As you know, my motto is “under 20” so this definitely fit the bill.

This is from my favorite take-a-chance-and-wait-awhile place, WISH. I have posted about it before, but it is a website that has a lot of stuff that is super cheap and comes from China. When I clicked the link, I noticed that the dress is now on sale.  In case $4.00 is too much for you, you will be happy to know that it is now $2.00!!  HAHA

You usually have to order 3 or 4 sizes up from what you normally wear, but after reading the reviews, I ordered a Large and it is fine for me. I normally wear a 10-12. It is also a bit short for a dress, so if you are tall, you might want to wear it as a tunic.

Anyway…I had fun styling it, so thought I would show you the results. As usual, some looks are better than others. Here are the good, the bad, and the ugly, not necessarily in that order. Remember, I was experimenting, and I was nice enough to document it all for you so that you can learn.  🙂

You can be sure that I will never wear quite a few of these looks, BUT, I did wear one of these outfits last week, so I figured I have gotten my money’s worth!

Thanks for reading. My WISH for you is that you find some cute, inexpensive things to wear.

  1. Bargain! What a cute dress. Coincidently, I’ve been looking at a similar one online this week. It’s in my basket but I haven’t pressed”buy” – it’s £79!
It’s always exciting to read your styling posts, seeing your ideas and how different the outfits are, sometimes even with subtle changes. That shows when you do the rows of themes, like grey cardi, black tights. My fave is the black cardi and knee boots. Those boots look gorgeous, don’t tell me you got them for under 20 bucks!
Thanks, Susan, great post. Hugs, x.

  2. I liked the long gray cardi also. Wow, $4. As soon as I get off of this vacation I’m going to check out what damage I can do to my budget on that website. What? You thought I was going to skip this blog while I was on vacation? 😀

  3. Great buy and the sleeves look good pushed up. We almost need a spreadsheet to keep up with what we have and what we need to coordinate.

Last spring I bought some marked-down tights at Walmart, looking ahead to winter. The label says, “Brown Heather” and they are kind of a heather/mingled look. The panty part is the color of your dress. Similar might work with your tan boots.

The tights cost about the same as your dress, reminding me of a little shop near where we used to live called Bonnie’s. Bonnie sold dresses marked down quickly and regular priced jewelry that cost more than your outfit.

  4. Thanks, Jean. Yes, I learned the “sleeves pushed up” thing from the jean jacket experiments, and found that it helps a lot of outfits. Love it that I learn so much from doing this blog! I will look for the leggings that you mentioned…first in my closet 😉 and then I will search WalMart. I think I am beyond a spreadsheet HAHA!

    1. In reality, pictures are better than a spreadsheet. I’m always refining my pinterest boards so I don’t forget what goes with what and they are easy to find.

I caved, too and ordered a black jean jacket.
