LADY IN RED 2

In my last post, I showed you my first attempt at making an outfit from my new red WalMart dress. Here are some more results of my dress-up day. I decided to try it out with white this time:

Fairly satisfied with these looks, but not sure I like the shoes with it. Will probably try something different. Again, I don’t try to analyze why…I just go with my instincts.

I felt somewhat successful using white, but decided to experiment with something a little bolder. HATED IT, but I will show you ๐Ÿ˜‰

Kind of looks like some kind of costume.

And speaking of HATING IT, I tried something else, because one of my readers recently suggested wearing a shirt as a top piece. I replied that shirts usually are too boxy, but I did give it a try. DOUBLE HATED IT!

That’s all for today, but I am not done yet. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ย  I spent a lot of time on this little project. More next time.

Update on publishing schedule:ย I will still plan to post on Sundays, and will try to also post on Thursdays. I am discontinuing the TBT posts, and instead have created a new page with my favorite posts from days gone by.

    1. I like the color combination also. Just don’t think I quite nailed it with this outfit. I will definitely try again!

  1. My favorite is the white sweater with the see thru lines and the ankle strap shoes. It is a young look and it looks great on you. I would wear any of those looks ( except the shirt topper!) but with the ankle strap shoes.

  2. All the sweaters are good. Choose the one with the most cotton. I have an acrylic shrug, loosely knit, that is the hottest garment I’ve ever tried to wear in summer.

The shirt was a fail, yes. A shorter, more fitted shirt in a crisp fabric might work. Might.

The ladies on Jodie’s Touch of Style blog are sporting jean jackets with their dresses. Would that work for you? Could be a fall look, too hot for now?

Sunday’s black with red looked elegant. I’d like to see your animal print jacket that you wore with Old Blue, worn with the red.

Your taupe/nude shoes, have you tried them with red?

    1. Thank you, Laura. I like the color combination, just not wild about the outfit. I am going to try again. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Love the fun you’ve had with your dress over these two posts and, yes, some don’t quite hit the spot but you’ve found some that are great and give you totally different looks from one dress. Don’t give up on the over-shirt; I have a shaped dark denim shirt that is so useful over many separates and dresses alike. It’s all about the weight and drape. You just need to hit on the right shirt.

  4. Hey Susan! I like the top outfit the best but the blue sweater outfit is soooooo electric! It’s unexpected and bold and very much like a fashionista! But, I also know that if you are not comfortable or it doesn’t work for you, know matter what others say, it’s not a good fit. I love those red sandals but I think a shoe that was more open on the top of your foot would have looked a little more polished. Just my two cents! Have a great weekend lady!

  5. Hello Susan!
I really enjoy reading your posts and following along with your adventures! You have so much energy and optimism. You make me smile! Thanks for being so brave by putting yourself “out there”!

  6. My fav outfit is the turquoise and red. I think it has a youthful look.

BTW — How’s WW going? Yesterday was my weigh-in day where I had hoped to be at my GW of 130. Weighed in at 130.6. POINT SIX!!!! My husband says to count it a victory but I was really bummed. Off on vacation for 2 weeks today. Hope I can remain remotely on plan. Looking forward to your next post. I actually copied some of your pictures onto my packing list to try to focus my travel outfits. LOL

  7. Hi Terrie, I like the color combinations also, but am going to try some different shoes. WW is slow but I am hanging in there. Congratulations on being so close to your goal! Have fun on your trip wherever you are going.

  8. I like the red and turquoise, too! Also, what if you tied the checked button down at the waist instead of leaving it just hang. It gives a nice shape when you tie it! I love the red dress, too. I have been searching for my perfect red dress for a while now. I need something simple like this one! And the red looks great on you! Stay tuned for my link up post later today…this post is a featured favorite!

    1. Thanks, Shelbee. Yes, this dress is a keeper. I can wear it a million different ways. Thanks for the suggestions…I actually did try tying the shirt at the waist, and it did not look any better, but when I tied the long black top at the waist, it looked fine. That’s why I just keep trying stuff!
